Furmint has been the predominant grape variety in the Tokaj region for centuries. This vigorous vine features medium-sized, three-lobed leaves that are flat with slightly inward-turning edges. Furmint is known for being a late ripener and for its ability to maintain excellent acidity. It plays a crucial role in blended wines and is particularly significant for Tokaji sweet wines. The grape is also valued in dry wines for its fresh, mineral character, which adds dynamism to the wine, providing citrus flavors and a crisp finish.
