Following the regular opening hours, our estate will be open during the national holiday long weekend (1-4 May).
Intuition wines are exceptional, almost unrepeatable imprints of grape varieties and vineyards, and can not be created in every vintage. These distinctive terroir wines reflect the specific qualities of their vineyards, respond spontaneously to the conditions of each vintage, and embody the intuitive and creative decisions of the winemaker. This approach allows us to move beyond the traditional categories of Tokaj wines.
“The only real valuable thing is intuition.” – Albert Einstein
4th release of this inspired parcel selection from the Holdvölgy first growth vineyard. The nose is an explosion of fresh quince, passion fruit and clove set the tone with salty and mineral notes. The palate is dominated by fresh and crispy pear with gooseberry, passion fruit and a hint of vanilla leading to an endless finish. A unique and creative dry furmint from Tokaj.

Frost in January was followed by a sudden thaw in February. Drought in March, rainfalls and constant wind during late spring, and the proliferation of insects made us face challenges again. With efficient interventions we prevented diseases, so the grape developed perfectly in the summer, and harvest arrived in September. The warmth and heavy winds of early autumn caused further difficulties, but after 18 days of harvest we were able to close our dry harvest successfully.
The mid-century vineyard of Mád, known as Holtvölgy (meaning "The Valley of Death") or Hótvölgy at the time, took its name from the fact that it was located near a cemetery belonging to the neighboring village of Öszöd. The first recorded reference to it as Holdvölgy (meaning "Moon Valley") dates back to the 18th century.
Today, it is one of the grandest and most significant areas among the historical first growth of Mád, covering 45 acres. Simultaneously, it features the most extensive vineyard on our estate at 8.7 acres. The Holdvölgy vineyard surprised us the most, as since its purchase, it has consistently provided us with pristine grapes in every vintage. It gives the fruit for the Estate's most special wine, the Intuition No3., a parcel and clone selected dry Furmint. Finally, many of our sweet Szamorodni lots, particularly the Zéta Szamorodni, would not have achieved such quality without these grapes. Our entire Tokaj wine selection could be derived from this vineyard due to its immense potential and the diverse characteristics of the land. This is why we have chosen the name Holdvölgy as the foundation and brand name for our wines.
It is bordered by the Úrágya vineyard to the east, the Sarkad to the north, and the Középhegy (Middle Mountain) and Újhegy (New Mountain) to the west. Located south of the Holdvölgy first growth, the village of Mád provides the easiest access to the land. The geological literature refers to this area as the Mád climate basin. The region is characterized by quartzite, which consists of rounded gravel. In the lower soil layers, brown forest soil with tuff is prevalent, while the upper levels contain red clay. The area is abundant in flint silt, which is rich in both macro and microelements.
